Brussels Airport is the proud sponsor and sustainability partner of the most eco-conscious Belgian festival, Paradise City, in neighbouring Steenokkerzeel. Paradise City takes its green philosophy far and is, not without reason, called a carbon-neutral festival. To help the festival achieve its green ambitions, Brussels Airport deployed electric buses this year to take the visitors to and from the festival.
The fifth edition of the successful eco-electro festival took place at the idyllic Ribeaucourt Castle, in the weekend of 5, 6 and 7 July 2019.
During the 3 days of the festival, Brussels Airport deployed 4 electric buses free of charge on routes between the festival and Brussels and Vilvoorde. Each day, around 600 festival visitors made use of this carbon-free shuttle service.
In addition to deploying free electric buses, the airport also supports the festival by funding a generator that uses solar energy to provide one of the stages with electricity.
Thanks to this collaboration, the festival was able to lower its carbon footprint even further this year.
